Our dream was to have a greenhouse.

An old-fashioned style greenhouse with white frames and perfect proportions just like those in Rosengårds Trädgård in Stockholm or Sofieros Slottsträdgård outside Helsingborg. We searched in vain for a greenhouse that met our expectations.
And so the seed was sown that has now become Sweden Green House.

SWEDEN GREEN HOUSE design, manufacture, build and sell greenhouses and orangeries. We are able to do this by using the knowledge we have in project-planning, design, architecture, house building, cabinet-making and horticulture.
We adapt the greenhouse and select materials according to your requirements. The greenhouse comes in different standard models.

Production and material

The frames, doors and construction of the greenhouse are drawn in accordance with old Swedish traditions. The frames are sturdily built to support the weight while also giving a feeling of elegance and lightness. The frames are bevelled inwards to allow the maximum amount of light to enter. The greenhouses are manufactured in Sweden in a cabinet-makers workshop where the traditional crafts are respected and the quality its own distinguishing mark.

The greenhouse is delivered as a kit
The frames are sawn to the correct lengths and angles. The holes for the plugs which hold the greenhouse toget . her are already bored. We supply an assembly brochure and the drawings and advice as to how to construct the foundation. Sweden Green House will undertake to help with the construction of the foundation and the mounting of the greenhouse and can even paint the greenhouse if you so wish.

Wood
The greenhouse is made from heartwood (duramen) which comes from slow-growing Swedish pine. This is a very hardy and hard type of wood that protects the green house from decay. The maturity of the pine can be seen in the dark inner wood and the lighter outer wood. The wood core contains a rot-protecting substance and absorbs less water than the outer wood.   We also make greenhouses in larch or teak. The frames should be painted white with linseed oil. Linseed oil has an impregnable effect on wood and the white colour makes it lighter inside the greenhouse. This is why greenhouses were often in the past painted white.
Glass
The green house is usually delivered with 4mm thick sheet glass. The traditional way is to overlap the edges of the 400x450mm panes and fix with putty. This gives the green house a special shimmering appearance. We can of course deliver a greenhouse with floor to ceiling glass panels.

THE SPECIAL GREEN HOUSE

Sweden Green House can design a greenhouse especially for you. Whatever you shape you want, whatever material you would like and for whatever purpose you intend to use it. Choose a lean-to roof, a sloping roof or as in the standard greenhouse, a gable roof. The greenhouse can be free-standing or attached to the main building. We even place them on terraces and balconies. They come with everything from ordinary glass to insulated glass.

  KATRINETORP A RESTORATION PROJECT

Katrinetorp is a manor house property dating from the beginning of the 1800s and owned by the city of Malmö. Part of the garden is in the style of an English park with trees, streams and a baroque garden. When the old orangery was to be rebuilt, Sweden Green House was contacted by Malmö city council.
The green house was rebuilt on the old foundations in spring 2005. Open during the summer it sells garden produce and adjoining the greenhouse is a café.

 THE STANDARD GREENHOUSE

Our standard greenhouse measures 2.6, 3.5, and 5 metres, each section being 0.4m. It has a gable roof with an angle of 39 degrees. The base is 40cm high. The gable ends can have single or double doors. If placing a door on the long side of the greenhouse, the base should be higher.  One of the long sides could be faced with wooden boards or a wall built with lecablocks or brick. The greenhouse is delivered as an all inclusive kit except for the foundation and base. It takes two people a day to mount and is then ready for glazing and final coating.

21 SQUARE METRES

3.5m wide and 6.1m long. The side height above ground is 1.3m. Total height above ground is 3.2m.
This greenhouse has a single door on one gable and double doors on the other. A single door can be placed on the long side, but then the base needs to be raised.
Both long sides are glazed. One long side could be covered with wooden boards or built up with lecablock or brick. The garden in the picture is at Wijs Trädgård and is used for courses.
